Pikes Peak is one of the "Fourteeners" in Colorado. The Peak stands 14,110 feet above sea level. There are 68 peaks in the continental United States that are 14,000 feet or higher. Fifty four of those are in Colorado. Lt. Zebulon Montgomery Pike was the first white man to "discover" the peak in 1806. The highway to the top of Pikes Peak is the second highest highway in the world.
